Admission Policy

General Statement (all faculties)

In all of our academic faculties (Nursing, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Social Work/Education) Seirei Christopher University (SCU) seeks students who deeply value and understand people and their needs. We seek students who can understand and participate in the Christian spirit of “Love thy Neighbor.” To SCU this means admitting students who will focus themselves on becoming consummate professionals, who will incorporate the most cutting-edge scientific techniques, and who will dedicate themselves to delivering the best professional services possible to their clients/patients. In all SCU’s academic faculties, we believe in professional collaboration and therefore seek students who will work together to achieve their professional goals and responsibilities.

Diploma Policy

General Statement (all faculties)

The basic educational philosophy of Seirei Christopher University (SCU) is to develop professionals in the fields of healthcare, welfare, and childcare education based on the Christian spirit of “Dignity of Life” and “Love Thy Neighbor”. The educational objectives of the School of Nursing, School of Social Work, and School of Rehabilitation Sciences are set based upon SCU’s educational philosophy.

Upon graduation, students are awarded a degree, having received the required number of credits in the curriculum and having achieved the goals that are set by each faculty. Each faculty determines its curriculum and graduation qualifications in accordance with its educational objectives, and sets goals using the following list as a common base.

Students will:
1. Acquire a sense of ethics that is supported by a noble spirit and a refined education, and grounded in SCU’s founding philosophy of "Dignity of Life” and “Love Thy Neighbor”.
2. Acquire basic knowledge and understanding of theory in their specialized field.
3. Acquire interpersonal skills and the ability to express themselves logically in ways that respect different values, backgrounds, and opinions.
4. Be able to explore and consider issues from various perspectives using their knowledge of their specialized field and related academic studies.
5. Learn how to comprehensively utilize knowledge, theory, and skills in their specialized field, and acquire practical skills to solve problems.
6. Understand their own specialty and its responsibilities, and cooperate and collaborate with specialists from various other fields.
7. Grasp the needs of the local and international communities and learn how to grow as a professional.
